WHAT SHOULD I DOWNLOAD ?
It all depends what you want … but hey, if you are here we suspect you are not a fan of the cartoonish look and feel of the game. Our recommandation is : download everything, install them all. Have a blast.
WHICH FILES TO INSTALL, THERE’S SO MANY !
It’s quite easy : let's take the k-505 example ...
- If you have everything: put all in.
- If not : download whatever expansion you have according to the name of the EP/SP pack
- Put the whole into a folder into your EA Mods folder ( all k-505 packages inside a folder named k-505 or whatever name you want for example )
WHAT ABOUT DIRECT X11 ?
Nothing to worry there : early 2024, we updated 90% of the whole k-mods. For those not yet updated such as fences from the k-606, we are working on a huge update :) BUT foundations are full ok and x11 compliant ... We regularly update the mods to comply with maxis whims … We might not update as soon as they throw a wrench in the machine but we are around. So, if you have DirectX 11 : you’re good. If you don’t : you’re good. Ain’t that swell ? ( Yes, it is )
DO YOU USE AI STUFF ?
No. Sometimes we use Topaz to refine a too tiny texture ( noise, blur ) but that's it. All we do are made with our little fingers, our mouse and keyboard, an image editor and Blender ...
WHERE ARE THE SAN MYSHUNO/CITY LIVING FILES ?
Mainly, in the basegame files. San Myshuno doesn't have much terrain/ground/grass files. And except streets walks and roads, the main core are urban textures hugely stretched. the k-505 brings nothing in terms of improvement ... But for all other k-mods ( such as the k-707 ) the files are there, ready to be downloaded :D
WILL IT OVERKILL MY GAME ?
Not at all. Most of maxis files for Worlds are : 512px x 512 px and 1024px x 1024px ( 2048px x 2048px sometimes ) ... So, we use the same and we change/modify the textures. This is why it is a replacement/override :D However, sometimes, we resize to a higher size. However, sometimes, we increase ( or decrease ) the size of an image in order to get a better result.
WHAT IF I WANT TO KEEP A WORLD WITH ITS ORIGINAL LOOK ?
Well ... What are you doing there ? :D Joke apart, The day you do not want the k-mods anymore, just put the files/folders from your EA mods folder to the bin. Simple. Easy. :D It's the same process when we make big/major updates : trash the old files, get the new ones and replace ! Still simple and easy :)
STILL, DOESN’T LOOK QUITE THE SAME OUTSIDE MY BACKYARD THAN IN THE PARK NEXT DOOR ...
We know. Maxis doesn’t manage terrain files the same way everywhere. Outside your playground, there’s a different grid. The game is applying the files on a grid which seem to stretch the same file perhaps 4/6/8 times larger than on the playfield. We work hard to level the differences between the limits of your lot and the rest of the world so everything is harmonious and seamless as possible. Unless we get a real World Builder Tool, this is the best we can do … Well maybe not the best of the best but this is a very stable work still in progress.
MAY I MIX AND MATCH YOUR FILES WITH SOME OTHER CREATOR TERRAIN/TREE/PLANT REPLACEMENTS ?
Well ... The answer is NO. Maxis often use files from other packs to cover each other. It is not uncommon to see interactions and intercommunications between files of different extensions, especially with the base game. Because of that, the k-mods are a STRICT maxis match replacement/override. Not a cc. An override should always be guided by this simple rule to avoid any problem, especially with the k-707 ( trees & plants ) ... But if you create or get a cc tree/plant/terrain, it should work without any problem :) as far as the ID ( unique identification ) is not interfering with a maxis ID ...

They are donation links. In short : you can tip us. It means to show your support. The mods are time-eating creatures and they aren’t the most creative thing to do. Showing support is giving us the boost we could need to make the latest SP/EP EAxis released and that we haven’t done yet. But you don’t have to donate to access the files !
