K-101 : THE BUILDER MOD

WHAT’S THE K-101 BUILDER MOD ?

It’s a replacement to all of EAxis floors. ALL. OF. THEM. Base Game, Expansion Pack and Game Pack included. In-game and in Build mode.

WHAAAT ?

Yup, you read that right. We are replacing all the default floors. What this mean is: every floor already in use in prebuilt houses and community places will be replaced from Willow Creek to Britechester-Oxbridge Henford-on-Bagley. More than that, they will be re-textured.

It means that when you’ll want to use that floor from EA that you typically use, it won’t be the same any more while being the same.

We reworked everything but kept it EAxis. In most cases, we kept the colours and the style of EAxis, what is plank wood is still plank wood. More texturized, in higher definition, with more details and realism. A floor that is less plastic, more grounded.

It’s the next step of K-505 Terrain Mod. While K-505 was all about pixelated feet on real grass. The K-101 Builder Mod is the natural extension. We’ve done outside. Now we’re doing inside.

It’s the next level of our work. And we hope, the next level of the CC scene.

WHY ?

In our quest to beautify the game, we always aimed to change as much file as we could. It’s a Herculean task. To which we can’t dedicate as much time as we’d like but still always on our minds.

It’s now 10 years since Sims 4 first released, and we still can’t work with the cartoon/plastic feel of the game. It is a replacement of the game floors, less cartoonish, more texturized. Better looking. It standardizes the look of the game between the terrains files and the inside of your house, your neighbour’s place and the gym you go to.

You changed the grass because, just like us, you didn’t like the muddied look of the grass. What about that plastic wood? What about that strange tiled floor in everyone’s bathroom/kitchen? Don’t start us on the carpet …

Just like with the grass, we texturized. That’s all. We took the file, texturized them. Put them back in. It gives a breath of fresh air. No more plastic toxic fume in your Sims House. No more heated interior under the bright sun of summer because you forgot to open the non-opening window and now the floor is lava.

BUT I LIKED THAT PLASTIC WOOD FLOOR ! CAN I PICK AND CHOOSE ?

Not on the biggest files. Most of the floors are in the Basegame files, those can’t be changed. You can choose between 2 or 3 files for some Game Pack. Otherwise, it’s a huge folder of more than a hundred files. It’s too big, too heavy, and then there’s the problem of the language. You’ll see the name of the floor in your language in your game, and it won’t be the packages’ names.

We made choices. You’ll like them, you trust us before 🙂

OK, BUT …

It enhances the game! It will stop the visual differences we ALL see, whether you are a maxis match CC/player or an Alpha CC/player. Those maxis floors are just … in the way … one can’t really do without them nor with them. We’re all looking for alternatives. And the alternative is not to make a complete Pantone swatch of the same flex wood floor. It’s to give texture, depth, feel, LIFE.

We strongly believe everyone should use them to unify the look, to help give a hunch to what we’re all striving for in terms of visual aspects of Sims 4. It is the perfect base for everyone.

WILL IT BREAK MY GAME? WILL IT SLOW IT DOWN ?

No and No.

This is a replacement mod. Just like the K-505. It only replaces the graphic files the game show you. The game doesn’t even make the difference. It’s only looking for instance XYZ to show on that floor. We are only replacing instance XYZ by a better file. End of the story. We pay attention to not overweight the files. High quality doesn’t always equate to heavier files. It’s also about working correctly.

BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM !

Check if your game is up-to-date. Check if your graphic card drivers are up-to-date. If you still have problems, don’t hesitate to reach out.

THIS IS WONDERFUL BUT THE THUMBNAILS ?

Changing the thumbnails would put more weight on the game and could create conflicts within the game instances and houses exports …

THESE FILES OVERRIDE THE MAXIS FILES AND WORK FINE IN-GAME …
